During my first placement our health class spent time intergrating different classes into health. One lesson that went really well was a illness lesson. The students had to draw a cell of the illness that they made up. This cell could have any shape, size or color. The only guidelines that the students had were; it must be approiate to show to the class, had to say how the illness was transmitted, and the symptoms. The students took this assignment and ran with it. This lesson is something that I plan to use in the future with other classes.

What a fun project! I bet those pictures were so creative. I think you were successful in making a link between small organisms (cells) and getting sick. Kids all too often figure that if they can't see it, then it doesn't exist. Giving sickness some form like that is so insightful.
ReplyDeleteI would like to see the images that they drew.
ReplyDeleteWere they strictly scientific, or were they fun and creative too? Sounds like the students must have been engaged. Another crosscurricular link to art. I sound like a broken record, but always like to call attention to the visual arts in any content area. Good Job Meghan.
