With the technology that is becoming more and more how soon do you think cell phones will be in the classroom. Also if cell phones are in the classroom and the students are using them for assignments how do we know if that is what they are really using them for. also when students use cell phones in the classroom are they going to text messages? if they are texting is it going to be in proper english or do we have to learn what all of the symbles and letters mean? If this is to happen I feel that the students english is going to go down the tube. students are not able to write now what is going to happen in a year or two. I just feel that if we start using cell phones in the classroom it is going to hurt the students more then help. also what happens if a student is not able to afford a cell phone is the school going to have to provide one for them? these are just a few questions that i have thought about.

Words of Wisdom
I just wanted to give a few words of wisdom to everyone who owns a computer. HAVE THINGS SAVED ON A USB DRIVE. Last Thursday my computer decided that it wanted to blow up! Since thursday I have learned how to take apart my lap top. this includes taking out the mother board, memory and the cover of my computer.(with the help of a dell representive). to no luck my computer still does not work! however, a dell tech is coming to my house next week. but my computer still ate all of my papers that were due friday. The one thing that i am very happy about is that i have not started writing my work sample and that has not been lost with everything else.
I feel that after spending 3 day at the health workshop that I have learned many different ways to meet the standards of oregon when teaching health. I feel that these lessons would have been much more help 8 months ago. However, they have given me many ideas for what to do in the future of my class. Did these classes help anyone else who is not in a health based class?

I have not had a problem with white boards and messes. I am not very sure about the expense, they were bought before I entered the classroom. I have found that all students enjoy this and everyone gets into writing answers down. I believe that more students are involved with white boards because they do not have to raise their hand and get called upon. I found this more helpful. Students are not scared to put an answer that might not be right. However, they do not put appropriate messages on the board sometimes. Usually this can be changed by saying that if there are not appropriate pictures or messages we will not use them. After saying this once students were not writing appropriate things on them.

In the freshmen health class that I am in now we use white boards for helping review information for test. How we use the white board is by asking the students a question and they answer the question on their white boards. This gives the students the opportunities to answer with out having to answer out loud. The students seem to enjoy this activity a lot.

During 8th grade health I tried to have students participate in a debate over global warming. This debate was a total failure! Students would not listen to what each other were saying. Students would interrupt each other and not listen. I do not know if any debate would have worked with this class because they are very talkative. I was not able to make seating charts separating students who talked with each other. All of the students are very friendly and would talk to a tree if they thought it might talk back.
During my first placement our health class spent time intergrating different classes into health. One lesson that went really well was a illness lesson. The students had to draw a cell of the illness that they made up. This cell could have any shape, size or color. The only guidelines that the students had were; it must be approiate to show to the class, had to say how the illness was transmitted, and the symptoms. The students took this assignment and ran with it. This lesson is something that I plan to use in the future with other classes.
